Concept : Giugiaro Quaranta

The show car, created to mark the design house's 40th anniversary, made its debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. Billed as the world's fastest hybrid, the Quaranta is powered by the hybrid powertrain from the Lexus RX400h and supplemental solar panels to propel itself to sixty in 4.2 seconds. And recently it was retrofitted with a meter, white paint and a dome light to shuttle fares around the Italian capital at the same rate as any other taxi in the city.

Concept : BMW Gran Coupe

Presented at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show, the BMW Concept Gran Coupé is a four-door coupé that incorporates the classic design features of all BMW coupes: the long wheelbase, the vaulted hood with forward-pointing lines, the set-back greenhouse, the flat silhouette, the coupe-style roof line and the short front overhang reflect the dynamic potential of the vehicle.

The BMW Concept Gran Coupé up to 100 millimeters flatter than the BMW 5 Series or the BMW 7 Series Sedan. The roof line tapers off gently into the rear, thereby elongating the vehicle’s proportions. The clarity of the LED front lights highlights the vehicle’s precision and premium aspirations.

The powerfully flared wheel arches above the rear axle highlight the particularly sporty character of the BMW Concept Gran Coupé. The sculptural shaping style characteristic of the entire body design of the BMW Concept Gran Coupé permits a unique interaction between concave and convex surfaces.

Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Stirling Moss

Unveiled at last year’s Detroit Auto Show, the Stirling Moss SLR reads like any Super Car of today: 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds, top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h), a million dollar price tag and extremely limited (only 75 will be produced). SLR stands for “Sport, Leicht, Rennsport” (sport, light, racing), and the cars produced were the result of a partnership between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive.

The most significant distinction though, is the lack of windshield and roof.
